WINDSOR – Upcoming activities at Bertie County Arts Council, 124 South King Street in Windsor, include children’s art classes, a celebration of the organization’s 30th anniversary, an art show featuring small paintings, and a holiday-themed gift show offering a wide variety of gifts available for purchase.

Susie Remkes has organized a series of four classes for children this fall. The next class, Thursday, Nov. 9 from 4 to 5:30 pm at the gallery, will be an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to learn to weave. A $10 fee covers all materials and instruction, as well as refreshments. Class size is limited and signing up in advance is recommended. Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, the gallery will be open from 2 to 4 pm to welcome all to a birthday party in celebration of Bertie County Arts Council’s 30 years of service to the community. Cake and ice cream will be served and guests will have opportunities to meet BCAC’s newest member artists, look at (and perhaps purchase) the art on display, and buy tickets for the upcoming fundraiser, “Little Art, A Really Big Show.” There will be a spot for guests to donate nonperishable food items and cash, which will be given to Good Shepherd Food Pantry. This party will also include celebration of the 50th anniversary of the North Carolina Arts Council, an umbrella organization that helps all arts councils in the state succeed. Friday, Nov. 17 is the date for the fundraiser, “Little Art, a Really Big Show.” Tickets are available at the gallery and from BCAC Board members. Each ticket is good for entry to the lavish reception and for the raffle of art items. Tickets are priced at $30 for 1, $50 for 2, and $90 for 4. Raffle art items are on display in the piano room at the gallery, 124 South King Street in Windsor, during regular gallery hours.
