Carroll E. Futrell Sr.

CONWAY, NC – Mr. Carroll Eugene Futrell, Sr., age 82 of Conway, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Rich Square Health Care Center.
He was born on May 8, 1935 to the late Julian and Beulah Futrell of Woodland, NC.
He was a member and deacon of the Conway Baptist Church. Carroll served as police chief for the Town of Conway for many years. As well he served with the Conway Fire Department for many years. He was a Mason, Shiner, and a member of the Ruritan Club.
Following his career as police chief, Carroll worked as a Correctional Officer for Jarrett Correctional Facility in Virginia for a number of years. Carroll enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with his tractor.
Other than his mother and father, Carroll is preceded in death by his wife, Isla Rea Futrell; sister, Carolyn Jernigan; and brothers, Eddie Wardell Futrell and James Burgess Futrell.
Carroll is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Futrell Vick and her husband Ricky of Rich Square, NC; three sons, Carroll Eugene Futrell Jr. and his friend Ola Dickerson of Jamesville, NC, Steve Lewis Futrell and his wife Ruth of Farmville, NC and William David Futrell and his wife Linda of Winterville, NC; four granddaughters, Tina Futrell and her friend Martinez of Murfreesboro, NC, April Grizzard and her husband Mitch of Farmville, NC, Jennifer Byrum of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Stacey Vick of Murfreesboro, NC; three grandsons, Billy Futrell and his wife Su of Killeen, TX, John Futrell and his wife Beth of Cheyenne, WY and Johnathan McLawhorn of Farmville, NC.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Conway Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Rogers officiating. The interment followed at the Conway Cemetery.
