EURE – It’s an experience like no other.

If wet-and-wild athletic action is your proverbial cup of tea, then Beaver Lake in Gates County is the place to be on Saturday, June 16 for a Pro-Am slalom and jump tournament by day and a thrilling night jump under the lights.

The Beaver Lake Ski Club announces the Beaver Lake Pro Am Water Ski and Night Jump. Events will take place on both Saturday and Sunday.

The daytime competition will be a Pro-Am format in all three events sanctioned to allow national and world records to be set while also welcoming amateur skiers.

The highlight of the weekend will start about 7 p.m. on Saturday with exciting head to head Slalom competition leading into a thrilling Night Jump event. Officials will light up the lake to accommodate a night jumping event that is fast becoming the most exciting spectator attraction in competitive water skiing.

Saturday night’s top jumpers will compete for cash prizes under the lights. Show skiing and head to head slalom will also entertain the crowd. Record and Class C, slalom and jump, will also take place over the courser of the two-day event.

The top eight jumpers from Round 1 and Round 2 earlier on Saturday will advance to the Night Jump Competition based on the best round from either round, providing both rounds are completed. Seeding will be determined by same method.

The night jump competition will consist of eight in the quarterfinals; four in the semifinals; and then down to the final two jumpers battling it out to lay their hands on the first-place prize money.

The Slalom and Jump competition will start at 8 a.m. Saturday and conclude by 5 p.m. allowing time to switch over to night mode and a festive atmosphere for all to enjoy with the opening at 6:30 p.m.

There will be food and beverage concessions for the day and night events. There will also be great DJ music playing for all to enjoy.

Slalom competition will continue on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.

Beaver Lake is located on Highway 13/158 approximately two miles north of the Chowan River Bridge.
