WINDSOR – Johnny Ervin “Coon Dog” Harrison, 72, of 405 Askewville Road, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
He was born in Bertie County September 28, 1945 to the late Elton and Myrtle Rich Harrison and was predeceased by his brother, J. E. Harrison.
Ervin, a jack of all trades, was a former truck driver, farmer and owner of Harrison’s Grocery in Askewville. He was a member of Ross Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 (if conditions allow) at Ross Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Jeffery Russell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunlow Lane Cemetery, 1111 B New Road, Windsor.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Dawson Harrison of the home; sons, James “Jamie” E. Harrison and wife Carol, and Cohen M. Harrison and wife Jenna, all of Windsor; sister, Iris Harrison Fisk and husband Dean of Windsor; and grandchildren, Holley Stokes (Nathan), Erin Harrison and Karter Harrison.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home and from their home at other times. Memorial gifts may be made to Askewville Fire Department, 105 Askewville South Railroad St., Windsor, NC 27983
