AULANDER – The Aulander Ruritan Club is growing its Ruri-teen membership by leaps and bounds.
Devin Vann and Makayla Jones of Lewiston recently joined the club, both eager to help their community by assisting with service projects and fundraisers.
Devin and Makayla are the children of Aulander Ruritan Club member Lisa Bishop and are following in her footsteps by realizing the importance of community service and civic duty. They recently assisted the club in their annual Brunswick Stew fundraiser.
“I’m so proud to see our youth getting involved. It is refreshing to see the younger generation stepping up to lend a hand and make our communities better places to live,” said Billy Drew, Aulander Ruritan Club President.
Also, this past month, the Aulander Ruritan Club gained new member, Lori Morings. She is a resident of Aulander and will be serving on the Club’s Social Development Committee.
As a former educator in Hertford County, Morings showed her enthusiasm to be involved by volunteering to serve on their Scholarship Committee the same night she joined the club.
“I am looking forward to working with Lori on the Scholarship Committee this year. It is wonderful to have such an experienced and knowledgeable individual share her ideas and perspective when it comes to choosing the recipients of this award,” said Karla Harrington, Aulander Ruritan Club Vice President.
