CONWAY, NC – Margie Hobbs Martin, age 79, passed away on Sunday evening, August 4, 2019 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Martin was born on January 6, 1940 to Linwood Hobbs and Essie Lassiter Hobbs in Northampton County, NC. She was one of six children. Margie worked for Mylecraft for twenty-two years before retiring.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Margie enjoyed gardening, flowers, and going to yard sales. Margie and the love of her life, Donald Ray Martin, Sr. spent many hours watching The Young and the Restless together. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by those that knew her.
Besides her parents, Margie was predeceased by her four brothers Ray, LJ, Bud, and Bennie, and her sister Sadie.
Left to cherish Margie’s memory is her loving husband of sixty-one years, Donald Sr.; her son, Donald Ray Martin Jr. and wife Cathy of Severn, NC; two daughters, Ellen Martin Williams and husband Barry of Rich Square, NC, and Marie Martin and friend Jeff Minton of Aulander, NC; five grandsons, Michael Christopher Vinson and wife Lyndsay of Remington, VA, Jason Williams and wife Courtney of Fuquay Varina, NC, Taylor Ray Martin of Severn, NC, Ryan Williams of West Palm Beach, FL, and Hunter Martin of Conway, NC; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Vinson of Conway, NC; three great-grandsons, Brantley Martin, Carter Vinson, and Nolan Williams; and one great-granddaughter, Marileigh Vinson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, with Rev. Ricky Browder, officiating. Burial will follow at Milwaukee Cemetery, Milwaukee, NC.
