JACKSON – An Ahoskie woman tragically lost her life in a single vehicle accident near here Monday night.

Molly Erin Leggett, age 22, died in the mishap that occurred around 11:30 p.m. on US 158.

Trooper W.S. Smith of the North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Leggett was operating a 2005 Ford passenger car. The vehicle was traveling east on US 158 when it went left of center and ran off the road to the left. The vehicle struck a ditch and overturned.

The fatality was the 14^th this year in the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s Troop C / District 8 area (Northampton and Halifax counties). Nine of those have occurred in Northampton County.
