EMPORIA – John Wesley Newton, 60, died in his home surrounded by his fiancé, Carolyn Davis, on December 29, 2019 at 1:30 a.m.
Mr. Newton was born in Spring Hope, NC on August 12, 1959, son to the late George Dick Newton and Joyce Marie (Wells) Newton. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his father, George Dick Newton, mother, Joyce Marie (Wells) Newton, and his brother, William Newton.
Surviving are his fiancé of 13 years, Carolyn Davis of their home in Emporia, VA; daughter, Shelby Marie Newton of Norfolk, VA; step daughter, Tiffany Prudy of Guam, Carol Ann Mason and her husband, Taveon, of Pendleton, NC, and Amber Rose Davis, who is in the Navy; brothers, Burl Newton and his wife, Sharon, of Dinwiddie VA, Walter Newton of Nags Head, and Alexander Newton and wife, Holly, of Stoney Creek, VA; and sister, Alice Slaughter of Dewitt, VA. Also surviving, are two beautiful granddaughters, Makayla and Maleyah; and many nephews and nieces.
A visitation with Mr. Newton’s family will be held at Bridgers Funeral Home. Inc. in Conway on January 1, 2020 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and his Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m., January 2, 2020 at 212 Watsons Mill Road in Pendleton, NC.
