NEA Lady Eagles post three straight victories

LASKER – With their upperclassmen leading the way, Northeast Academy routed Terra Ceia Christian Academy, 60-26, here Thursday night in a Tarheel Independent Conference girl’s basketball game.
The victory allowed the Lady Eagles to extend their winning streak to three straight games.
Seniors Allie Liverman (17 points), Jesse Martin (13), and Savannah Martin (7) played their final regular season game at home.
Junior center Emalee Jones led all scorers with 19 points. Leah McDermott and Sarah Kate Ricks each chipped in two points for the NEA ladies, who built a 29-13 halftime lead and then put the game on ice thanks to a 20-7 scoring advantage in the third quarter.
It marked the second time this week that the Lady Eagles had pinned a loss on Terra Ceia.
On Monday in Pantego, Northeast raced out to a 10-point lead (19-9) by the end of the first quarter and were never seriously challenged afterwards en route to a 60-43 win on Terra Ceia’s court.
Liverman poured in a game-high 20 points for Northeast. Jones (16) and Jessie Martin (10) also hit for double digits.
The Lady Eagles traveled to Merry Hill on Wednesday to tangle with Lawrence Academy. There, Northeast raced out to a 14-3 lead by the end of the opening period of play and then used a 19-7 scoring edge in the third quarter to help seal a 57-26 win.
Jessie Martin scored a game-high 19 points to lead the way. Jones added 16 points with Savannah Martin (7), Ricks (7), Liverman (6), and McDermott (2) rounding out the scorebook.
The Northeast Academy middle school teams played two opponents this week.
On Monday at Terra Ceia, Hayes Hatcher scorched the nets for 20 points in leading the Northeast girls to a 25-21 win. Northeast sealed the win with an 8-to-2 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.
Northeast was defeated 45-20 in the middle school boys game. They were led by Chance Lassiter’s 12 points.
On Thursday, Northeast hosted Ridgecroft’s middle school teams.
In the girl’s game, Ridgecroft built an early lead and held on down the stretch to defeat Northeast, 26-19. Hatcher (11) and Payton Odom (5) topped the Northeast scorebook. Hannah Slaughter led Ridgecroft with eight points.
In the middle school boy’s game, Ridgecroft held a 17-8 lead at halftime and then used a 10-3 scoring advantage in the third quarter to help them run out to a 38-20 win.
Landon Woodward paced Ridgecroft with 10 points.
Jake Parks (7) and Lassiter (6) led Northeast.
Northeast closed out their regular season Friday at Ridgecroft.
The Tarheel Independent Conference tournament will be held next week.
