LITHONIA, GA – Lt. Colonel (Retired) Dexter A. Holley was born November 11, 1974 to Ruth B. Holley and the late James M. Holley, Jr. He was called home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of June 22, 2021.
LTC Holley served in the U.S. Army faithfully for 25 years before being honorably discharged. He was a veteran, having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom Operation New Dawn. Dexter was a JROTC Department Chair/Instructor at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, Ga.at the time of his passing.
Dexter is survived by his mother, Ruth Holley of Aulander, NC; his children: daughters, Jasmine Holley of Suffolk, VA and Mya Holley of Killeen, TX; son, Jesus Hernandez of Fayetteville, NC; his siblings, Robert Robinson (Patrena) of NY; Keischa Pruden (Paul Jr.) of Ahoskie, NC, Reginald Holley (Gina) of Florissant, MO; his nephews, Aaron and Bryant Pruden of Ahoskie, NC and NickQuan of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 12 noon at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Windsor, NC. Interment will follow in the Wilder-Cherry Family Cemetery in Aulander, NC with Military Honors. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc. 816 S. Commerce Street Aulander, NC is handling the funeral arrangements.
