Onions recalled from local Food Bank distribution

MURFREESBORO – Local residents who received produce items from a Food Bank distribution held here earlier this month are subject to a food safety recall.
The Food Bank of the Albemarle, based in Elizabeth City, is informing the public of a product recall involving Fresh Red Jumbo Onions in 25-pound bags.
This recall has been initiated due to salmonella investigation.
Food Bank of the Albemarle began shipping this product on Sept. 27. Some of this product was given out during a food distribution event held on Oct. 7 in Murfreesboro.
If you received any of these products and still have them on hand, please discard them immediately. Your assistance is appreciated and necessary to prevent consumer illness or patient harm.
