MURFREESBORO – Harold R. Tucker, Jr., age 85, of Vaughan’s Creek Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021 after an extended illness, at the Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
Harold was born on October 18, 1936 to Harold Tucker, Sr. and Fannie Mae Harrell Tucker in Murfreesboro, NC. After graduating from high school in 1955, Harold served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1965. He always loved his work as a heavy equipment operator, whether it was with his father and brother Wayne at Tucker’s Farm Drainage or at United Turf. Harold was a devoted member of Meherrin Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Along with his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Delphia Tucker, and his sister, Florence Tucker Futrell.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Myrna Allen-Tucker; his daughter, Holly Tucker Radford and husband Tim, and grandson, Tucker Radford; two stepsons, Mike Allen of Lancaster, SC, and Donnie Allen and wife Karen of Virginia Beach, VA; stepdaughter, Lisa Allen Morris of Wilmington, NC; step grandsons, Ryan Allen, Brock Allen and wife Allyson, and Brian Allen. Harold is also survived by his brother, Wayne Tucker and wife Debbie of Murfreesboro, NC; his sister, Faye Gaudette and husband Roy of Lake Gaston, NC; his sister-in-law, Edna R. Ruziak of Richmond, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends will on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC and other times at the home.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev John Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
