CNN commentator to address Bertie Freedom Fund banquet

WINDSOR – The annual Freedom Fund Banquet of the Bertie County Branch of the NAACP will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Bertie Middle School in Windsor.
Attorney Bakari Sellers, Political Commentator for CNN, will be the guest speaker. Music will be rendered by Jonavon Cooper, Teaching Assistant Professor/Jazz Band Director at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
Born into an activist family, Bakari’s father, civil rights leader Cleveland Sellers, instilled core values in him to continue in the tireless commitment to service.
B. Sellers made history in the 2006 South Carolina state legislature as the youngest African American elected official in the nation at the age of 22. His political career did not stop there. He has served as a featured speaker at various political events, universities, and National Trade organizations across the country.
A New York Time’s bestselling author, B. Sellers has released two books, “My Vanishing Country: A Memoir” and “Who Are Your People?” He recently expanded his audience with the Bakari Sellers Podcast, a twice-a-week show that is part of the Ringer Podcast Network. His podcasts discuss a variety of topics, including politics, race, sports, media, the Presidential campaign, and much more.
