AHOSKIE – Acting on a tip, the Ahoskie Police arrested three teenagers Monday afternoon, all armed with weapons and wearing face coverings in the area of Hill and First streets.

Ahoskie Police Chief Jimmy Asbell said there is no indication at this point in time that Monday’s arrests are related to two shootings that occurred Saturday night in the same general area.

Asbell identified those arrested on Monday as Jeremiah Lee of Murfreesboro, Joequanta Fauntleory of Woodland, and Geordan Williams of Cofield. All three are 18 years of age.

Each teen stands charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon. Asbell said that Williams was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Lee and Fauntleory were each placed under a $1,000 secured bond. The bond for Williams was set at $3,000 secured.

All three made their initial appearance on Tuesday in Hertford County Criminal District Court.

Asbell said his department received a phone call shortly before 3:30 p.m. from a citizen who reported seeing three black males wearing masks and carrying weapons.

“Our officers immediately responded to the area of Hill and First [streets],”Asbell said. “Officer Tanner Pennington was nearly on the scene when he observed a vehicle pass a stopped school bus. He performed a traffic stop on that vehicle and the three males inside matched the description given to us by the caller.”

Asbell said a search of the vehicle revealed three weapons, all located in the back seat where the three males were seated at the time of the traffic stop.

The female driver of the vehicle was not arrested. Asbell said she was cited for passing a stopped school bus.

“The Ahoskie Police Department appreciates the community working with us to provide the information which led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of three weapons, including one that was stolen,” Asbell said. “Community partnership is valuable as we work together to protect our neighborhoods.”
