ENFIELD – Onita Woodard Sexton, 96, died Friday, Mar 31, 2023, at her home. Born in Branchville, VA, raised in Conway, NC, she lived most of her life in Enfield. She attended Pan-American Business School before marrying in 1958. She worked as bookkeeper at Coastal Motors and Enfield Oil Co. Mrs. Sexton was devoted to her Lord, her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well her Enfield Baptist Church family and friends. She was active in the Ladies Bible Class and was a fabulous cook happily sharing with others. Flowers, plants, and sweets were some of her favorite things.

Mrs. Sexton is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Woodard; her father, Aubrey Otis Woodard, Sr; and four brothers, Aubrey Otis, Kenneth, Linwood, Shirley and John Woodard.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Sexton York and her husband Randy of Raleigh; her son, Thomas “Tom” Edison Sexton Jr. and his wife Pamela of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her brother, Gilbert “Lefty” Woodard of Reidsville; a granddaughter, Lindsay Kovacs and her husband Pete of Wake Forest; three grandsons, Colby York of Raleigh, Thomas Sexton, III of Columbia, SC, and Charlie Sexton of Mt. Pleasant; and a great-granddaughter, Atari Elson of Wake Forest.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Enfield Baptist Church on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. David Brantley will be officiating the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Enfield Baptist Church.
