AHOSKIE – Play Ball!

Those two words will ring out this weekend when the tradition of Ahoskie American Legion Post 102 baseball returns to the diamond.

Post 102 will field two Junior teams this season. Players represent schools from throughout the Roanoke-Chowan area and beyond.

“Hopefully with the interest in our junior program, next season they can move up and we can once again have a Senior team,” said David Ellis, General Manager of the Post 102 baseball program. “We just thought with so many younger boys playing, we were better off with two junior teams instead of pushing kids up to play at the senior level.”

Both Post 102 teams will be in action at home this weekend (Saturday, May 20) when they host Virginia 16 AAU beginning at 1 p.m. All home games are played at the Hertford County High School baseball field.

Team A has two home games the following week: Beaufort County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 and Wilson Senior at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24.

Team B has one game slated for that same week: a 7 p.m. road trip to Beaufort County on Monday, May 22.
