RICH SQUARE – Jeanne “Mama Jeanne” Sugg Moore was born on June 1, 1933 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Ernest Bernard Sugg and Ollie Bassett Sugg. Jeanne slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqulynn and James Sanders.

Jeanne attended and graduated from W. S. Creecy High School and graduated from Bennett College in Greensboro, NC. Jeanne taught elementary school in Powellsville, NC (Bertie County), W.S. Creecy, Garysburg, Willis Hare, Jackson-Eastside in Northampton County for 40 years. In addition, she taught briefly at Northampton High School and the Adult Learning Center at CADA.

She was a pious member of First Baptist Church, 405 E. Jackson Street in Rich Square, NC where she served as an avid Sunday School Teacher, member of Gospel Choir, a trustee and various other committees. To God Be The Glory.

She is survived by one son, Bernard Sugg Moore (Vicki Stewart) of Rich Square, NC; one daughter, Jacqulynn Moore Sanders (James) of Knightdale, NC; six grandsons, Stacy Moore of Wendell, NC, Blake Moore of Raleigh, NC, Desmond Felton of Greensboro, NC, Scott Tann of Rich Square, NC, Montgomery Sanders (Page) of New Hill, NC, Jackson Sanders (Jalyn) of Raleigh, NC; nine great grands, Tre’Von and Saniya Moore (Stacy) of Wendell, NC, Ja’laya Moore of Raleigh, NC, Zakiyus Horton, Josiah, Jaclyn and Jacob Sanders (Jackson) of Raleigh, NC, Emmerson and Beckham Sanders of New Hill, NC; and a very dear and devoted friend, Johnetta Baugham of Virginia Beach, VA.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel in Rich Square from 4-6 p.m.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Rich Square. Burial will be in the Moore Family Cemetery, Chapel Hill Church Road, Rich Square, NC.
