Drugs and firearm seized after vehicle chase

LEWISTON WOODVILLE – A local man’s attempt to outrun law enforcement officers ended with his arrest near here Friday.
Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said that Deputy M. Bond attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Lewiston Woodville for a vehicle having an expired registration plate. The vehicle failed to stop, leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit.
During the pursuit, items of suspected contraband were tossed out of the window before the vehicle stopped at a residence on Governors Road. The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Zyreke Kentron Pugh of Lewiston Woodville, briefly resisted deputies but was taken into custody without incident.
Deputy Bond was assisted by Sergeant D. Young in the vehicle pursuit and the probable cause search of the vehicle where marijuana, paraphernalia, and a firearm were found.
Pugh was charged with felony flee to elude, possession with intent to manufacture/sale/deliver marijuana, maintain a vehicle for controlled substance, obstructing justice, resisting a public officer, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, fail to heed lights or siren, fictitious/alternate title/registration card, fail to stop at a stop sign/flashing red light, and expired registration/no inspection.
Pugh was confined in the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail under a 15,500 secured bond.
