MILLSBORO, DE – Jean Carolyn Brinkley Harmon, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home on June 17, 2023.

Carolyn was born on January 5, 1953 in Ahoskie, NC to the late Jodie Ray Brinkley Sr. and Edith Brinkley Lassiter. On March 6, 1987 she married Jan Harmon Sr. of Millsboro, DE. She was employed with the Indian River School District for over 20 years.

She is survived by her loving husband Jan Harmon Sr. of 36 years; her only child, Michael Harmon Sr. and his wife Brandie and their three children Kamree, Carissan, and Michael Jr.; six stepchildren, Laverne Harmon, Jan Harmon Jr., Sylvia Harmon, Maria Harmon (Barney), Nicole Dukes, and Jacklyn Harmon (David); 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; her siblings, Jodie Ray Brinkley Jr., his wife Brenda, of Ahoskie, NC, Kathy Turner of Greenville, NC, and Richard Brinkley and his wife Sue of Suffolk, VA; brother-in-law, Thomas Ward of Plymouth, NC and sister-in-law, Debbie Brinkley of Ahoskie, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Ward; brother, Michael Brinkley; and brother in law, Johnny Turner.

A memorial service will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on July 22, 2023 at the Nanticoke Indian Center, 27073 John J. Williams Hwy, Millsboro, DE.

A graveside Service will be held on July 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Brinkley Family Cemetery, which is located in the Brinkleyville Township, Ahoskie, NC., with Rev Jimmy Ward officiating.
