Suspect fires shots upon eluding arrest

AHOSKIE – Numerous law enforcement agencies are involved in a search this morning (Sunday) for a man who apparently fired shots at officers before fleeing into the woods.
There are no reports of injuries.
Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes said the suspect being sought is Talametrius Kenyon Spruill, a Black male, 5’8” to 5’10”.
Hayes warned that Spruill is armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone sees Spruill or knows his whereabouts, please dial 911 so this information can be forwarded to deputies/officers at the scene.
According to Sheriff Hayes, his office received a call for service about a suspicious person this morning at approximately 3:06 am in the area of B&B Mobile Home Park on West Modlin Road outside of Ahoskie. Upon arrival, deputies came in contact with Spruill. Spruill then fled in the wooded area behind the mobile home park and fired shots from his handgun while fleeing.
Hayes said Spruill was wearing a black shirt with white writing on the front, black shorts, and white shoes.
Several K-9 and Drone units have been called and are on the ground at this time.
Spruill is already wanted for outstanding warrants from the Ahoskie Police Department.
Agencies assisting the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office in the search are the Ahoskie Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department, Rocky Mount Police Department, and the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.
