A Gates County man’s flight from justice has ended.

After several months of being on the run, Charlie Eugene Eason was located this week in Florida by bounty hunters, according to Gates County Sheriff Ray Campbell.

Campbell said that Eason was detained and then transported to Johnston County, NC where he was served with outstanding warrants out of Gates County.

Eason’s warrants were in reference to failure to appear on flee to elude arrest, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony manufacturing/selling/possessing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, felony maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to Smithfield, NC Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this matter,” Campbell said in a statement.
