Seaboard shooter arrested

GARYSBURG – A Garysburg man is behind bars, accused of shooting an individual in Seaboard on Tuesday (Aug. 22).
Ben’trel Mitchell, 24, was arrested later the same day at his residence where he was served warrants for felony assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony discharge weapon occupied property, misdemeanor discharge firearm in city limits, misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the people, misdemeanor injury to real property, and three counts misdemeanor injury to personal property.
Mitchell was jailed under a $150,000 secured bond and made his first appearance on Aug. 24 in Northampton County Criminal District Court.
His arrest came after Northampton County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after midnight on Aug. 22 to the area of the Seaboard Housing Complex in reference a shooting. Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that a male subject had been shot in the upper torso area. The victim was treated for his injuries.
Upon investigation, warrants for Mitchell’s arrest were obtained by NCSO Lt. A. Collier.
