LINDEN – Yvette Faye Jackson Carson, age 57, passed away on August 28, 2023 in her home in Linden, NC. She was born on February 16, 1966 in Bertie County to Irma Jackson Robbins and the late Willie McCoy Mitchell.
Yvette graduated from Bertie High School in 1984. She graduated from East Carolina University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1995 she received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Methodist College. On May 7, 2011, she earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Fayetteville State University. In August 2011 she was awarded another Master’s Degree in Educational Services from Appalachian State University.
Yvette was an educator who taught school in Slidell, Louisianna, Dunn, NC and Sanford, NC. Her most recent occupation was assistant principal at Benhaven School in Sanford, NC.
Yvette was a member of the alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. in Fayetteville, NC. She was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Colerain and after relocating, she joined First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC where she served as an Usher and Sunday School Teacher.
She is survived by her mother, Irma J. Robbins and step-father, Fred Robbins of Merry Hill, NC; sisters, Yvonne Guion (William) and Wileen Peele all of Greenville, NC, Yolanda Holley of Winston-Salem, NC, Jackie Dudley-Bush of Portsmouth, VA, Michell Mitchell of New York; brothers, Patrick Watford (Dawn) of Richmond, VA and Willie Mitchell Jr. of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Colerain, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Nathaniel Thompson officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Wilder’s Chapel of Windsor in Windsor, NC.
