MURFREESBORO – Firefighters from four departments responded to a house fire on Sunday, Sept 17 in Murfreesboro.

The occupants of the residence, located at 121 Pecan Drive, were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported. However, the home is a total loss.

Murfreesboro Fire Chief Harrison Revelle said their department was dispatched at 9:55 a.m. to the single-story brick residence. They responded with four trucks and 13 firefighters.

“Upon my arrival, there was really heavy smoke going and heavy fire already through the roof of the house,” stated Revelle.

Additional aid was provided by the fire departments of Como, Winton, and Conway as well as Hertford County EMS and Murfreesboro Police. Revelle expressed his thanks to everyone who provided support.

Revelle said they initially had some trouble making entry into the house, but once inside, they were able to get the flames under control. The last units left the scene at 12:40 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but Revelle said their initial investigation points to electrical as the most likely cause.

This is the third house fire that the Murfreesboro Fire Department has responded to in less than two weeks.

Revelle said they were dispatched to an abandoned house on Boyette Street on Sept. 7. That structure was a total loss as well, but he noted that they were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring residences. The Murfreesboro department also provided assistance for a house fire on Church Street in Conway on Sept. 12.
