MURFREESBORO – As the Chowan men’s soccer team prepares for the Conference Carolinas Championship tournament this weekend, the Hawks continue to climb in the regional rankings, moving up to sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA) Regional Poll.
Chowan concluded the regular season with a 7-4-4 overall record, including wrapping up the season with a 2-1 victory over regionally-ranked Francis Marion.
The Hawks sit behind Wingate, Limestone, Clayton State, Lincoln Memorial, and Lander that make up the top-five. Chowan sits in sixth with Francis Marion, Lenoir-Rhyne, Coker, and Catawba to wrap up the poll.
Chowan (7-2-2 in league play) has advanced to the semifinal round of the Conference Carolinas tournament. That event is being held at the Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, located north of Greensboro.
The Hawks were scheduled to meet rival Barton College in Friday’s semifinals. That match had not ended prior to the deadline for today’s (Saturday) edition.
A win by Chowan would advance the Hawks to Sunday’s Conference Carolinas championship match.
Converse and Francis Marion met in Friday’s other semifinal matchup.
