Bears power past Currituck

AHOSKIE – Rimiez Williams, Keveon Rodgers and Shimere Garris each scored in double figures to lead Hertford County High School’s varsity boys to a 65-47 win over Currituck County here Friday night (Dec. 8).

It was the Northeastern Coastal Conference opener for both teams.

Williams scored a game-high 17 points while Rodgers and Garris added 16 each.

Zhae’twan Wells hauled down nine rebounds to lead HCHS on the boards. Garris finished with seven rebounds.

Luke Morgan (14 points) led Currituck County. Matthew Vaughan and Walter Bailey also scored in double digits for the Knights with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Bears (2-1 overall; 1-0 in league play) will step outside the conference for their next two games, both on the road: Dec. 11 at Washington and Dec. 19 at Gates County.
