GARYSBURG – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation after a Weldon man was found shot on the side of the road.

Northampton deputies were dispatched shortly at 1:16 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 16) to the area of Highway 301 outside of Garysburg, NC in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male on the side of the highway that had sustained numerous gunshots to his upper body. The victim is identified as 25 year-old Eric Kendall of Weldon. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
