HC School Board elects new leadership

WINTON – Change has arrived in the lead two chairs on the Hertford County Board of Education.
At its meeting here Dec. 11, the five member board unanimously elected C. Eddie Hall as its new chair and J. Wendell Hall as vice chair.
For Eddie Hall, his journey in education has been nothing short of remarkable, marked by a steadfast commitment to his home county.
Starting in 2011 as a teacher assistant, Hall’s dedication and expertise propelled him through the ranks, achieving a district-level position as a certified Chief Technology Officer, showcasing his proficiency and leadership in educational technology.
Elected to the Board of Education in 2020, Eddie Hall has remained deeply rooted in his commitment to Hertford County, embodying a determination to contribute significantly to his community. His career not only reflects personal achievements but also underscores a commitment to paving the way for future generations of educators and learners within the county.
Joining him in a key leadership position is J. Wendell Hall who brings a wealth of experience as a longtime local educational administrator.
Serving on the Hertford County Board of Education for 23 years, Wendell Hall has been an advocate for education in the community. His commitment extends beyond the county, with three years of dedicated service on the North Carolina State Board of Education.
Additionally, Wendell Hall has demonstrated his leadership in education through 23 years of service on the North Carolina School Board Association and 19 years on the North Carolina High Schools Athletic Association Board of Directors.
Expressing enthusiasm for the new leadership, Hertford County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jesse Pratt stated, “I am excited for the future with Mr. Eddie Hall as board chair and Mr. Wendell Hall as vice chair. Their combined experience and dedication to education will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of our schools and the betterment of our community.”
The newly elected board chair and vice chair expressed their gratitude for the trust their fellow board members and the community placed in them. They said they look forward to working collaboratively to continue advancing the educational goals and initiatives within Hertford County.
