LEWISTON WOODVILLE – A Lewiston man is wanted by the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office after he shot at two women early Saturday morning.
One of the women was shot in the face and the left side of her body, but is expected to survive, according to Bertie Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin.
Ruffin is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Larkel Latroy Brown of Lewiston. Brown is described as a Black male, standing 6 foot tall and weighing an estimated 160 pounds. He has short hair and has several tattoos on his arms.
Brown is wanted for a shooting that occurred shortly before 6 am on East Church Street in Lewiston. There, Ruffin said, Brown was in a dispute with two females at his residence.
“As the females were leaving his residence, Brown fired one shot into the vehicle, striking the female sitting in the passenger area in the face and left side of her body,” Ruffin stated.
Armed with a warrant, Bertie Sheriff’s deputies, following the shooting, searched Brown’s residence where several firearms were seized.
Ruffin said Brown is a convicted felon and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Brown is entered into the NCIC database. If anyone knows his whereabouts, contact the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office at 252-794-5330 or 252-794-5370.
Sheriff Ruffin thanked the Greenville Police Department Emergency Response Team (SWAT), Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, Bertie County Emergency Management and EMS and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for their assistance today.
