Ahoskie Christian collects wins on the road

AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Christian School’s varsity girls and boys each picked up two key wins on the road last week.
At Terra Ceia Christian School on Jan. 22, Morgan Wadsworth poured in 42 points to lead the Lady Warriors to a 69-43 victory.
ACS led 40-21 at halftime.
Lacey Berryman (8 points) Madison Masters (7), Lilly Lassiter (6), Kaylee Jones (4), and Mara Dae White (2) added to the winning effort.
One day later (Jan. 23), ACS traveled to Elizabeth City where they used a strong third quarter to defeat Victory Christian, 48-28.
The Lady Warriors only led by eight (23-15) at halftime, but used a 21-7 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Wadsworth led the way with 18 points, but had plenty of help as Carly Piland added nine points while McKenna Perry and Jones chipped in eight and six points respectively. Perry added a team-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Warriors improved 22-1 overall (6-0 in league play).
Meanwhile, the ACS boys pulled off a big upset at league-leading Terra Ceia (59-56) and then knocked off Victory Christian, 72-65.
At Terra Ceia, Noah Knowles (18 points), JP Smith (17), and Tyler Berryman (10) all scored in double figures to lead Ahoskie Christian. Berryman also added 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
In the game at Victory Christian, Knowles had 25 points to lead the way. Berryman (17 points), Smith (13), and Jaelen Rascoe (13) also scored in double digits. Berryman added 14 rebounds and five blocks.
With those two wins, Ahoskie Christian improved to 10-15 overall and 5-1 in conference action.
