Bertie chase ends in Martin County

An arrest has been made following a high speed chase on Sunday.
According to Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin, BCSO Sergeant Rickie Dozier attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in Lewiston Woodville. Upon Dozier activating his blue lights and siren, the driver of the vehicle sped away in excess of 100 mph.
Ruffin said that during the chase, the driver threw a gun out the window. Shortly thereafter, the driver and the vehicle came to a stop in Martin County.
Sgt. Dozier was assisted by BCSO Deputy M, Conwell and deputies from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
They arrested 30-year-old Dashawn L Perry who was charged with felony flee to elude arrest, carrying a concealed gun, and unsafe passing.
