AHOSKIE – John Michael Kilsheimer, born on August 25, 1963, in New Jersey, passed away on April 20, 2024, in Bertie County at the age of 60 due to natural causes.
John dedicated his life to shaping young minds both as a Boy Scout Commissioner for Bertie County, and as a School Teacher at Hertford County Middle School. He was beloved by his students, and they reciprocated that love wholeheartedly. Known for his sense of humor, John was always joking and pulling pranks on his students, even allowing them to paint his bald head for sports events, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
John is survived by his wife, Lisa, and their two sons, Jefferson Kilsheimer of Greensboro, NC, and Mason Kilsheimer of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by his father, Joseph Edward Kilsheimer, three brothers, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Hill Kilsheimer.
A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
In his time as a school teacher and throughout his life, John touched the hearts of many with his kindness, humor, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
