Davis announces over $15 million in Federal Housing investments

WASHINGTON, DC – On May 10, U.S. Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) announced $15,038,532 in federal housing investments for North Carolina’s First Congressional District through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) FY 2024 Public Housing Capital Fund Formula Grant Awards.
The investments will flow to 12 counties and provide affordable housing options for eastern North Carolinians.
“We must reinforce our efforts to ensure that affordable housing remains accessible across North Carolina’s First Congressional District, laying the foundation for every individual to pursue and realize the American Dream right here in the East,” said Davis.

The grants are provided through HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which offers annual funding to all public housing authorities to build, renovate, and/or modernize the public housing in their communities. Housing authorities can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems and installing water conservation measures.
