WINDSOR – A Martin County man lost his life in an accident near here Friday afternoon.

Bobby Dixon, 60, of Williamston died in an accidental drowning.

North Carolina Wildlife Resources Officer James Michael Strider said Dixon was exiting a boat to return to the pier near San Souci on the Cashie River. Officer Strider said Dixon lost his footing and fell into the water where he drowned.

Bertie County Sheriff’s Office officials helped with the recovery of Dixon’s body, which was pulled from the water shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.

Officer Strider has ruled the death accidental.
