AHOSKIE – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has narrowed its search for the driver who fled from the scene of a hit-and-run wreck near here last week.

The accident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at the intersection of NC 42 and Bonner Bridge Road west of Ahoskie. There, according to NCHP Trooper B. Beard, Glen Weaver, 56, of Powellsville, was approaching that intersection on his motorcycle when he was struck by a passenger car.

Last week, Beard said that car – gray or dark in color, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu or a Subaru – continued west on NC 42 following the collision.

An update from the Highway Patrol on Tuesday of this week confirmed they are looking for the driver of a dark gray 2017 Subaru Impreza. That vehicle will have damage to its front end.

At the time of the accident, Weaver was unable to describe what happened due to the extent of his injuries.

Those with information about the vehicle that left the scene are encouraged to contact Sgt. Williams at the Highway Patrol office in Ahoskie (252-332-6800).
