Northampton County Sheriff’s arrest report

JACKSON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests during the month of August:

On Aug. 2, Deputy G. Prescott served an outstanding warrant out of Roanoke P.D. on 57-year-old Garland Hughes of Conway for obtaining property by false pretense. He received a $1,500 secured bond.

On Aug. 6, Sgt. A. Johnson served an outstanding warrant on 51-year-old Billy Worrock of Roanoke Rapids for felony breaking & entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. He received a $5,000 secured bond and a court date scheduled in Halifax County.

On Aug. 7, Deputy Z. McDuffie served an outstanding warrant on 24-year-old Jesse Liverman of Conway for simple assault and communicating threats. He received a $500 unsecured bond and a court date scheduled in Bertie County.

On Aug. 12, Deputy K. Cogdill, Deputy J. Johnson, and Deputy K. Joyner responded to a vehicle larceny call. Upon arrival and investigation, officers were able to locate the accused and the vehicle. 31-year-old Javaris Liverman of Jackson was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. He received a $2,500 secured bond.

On Aug. 16, Sgt. G Williams and Deputy Z. McDuffie responded to a disturbance in Severn. Upon arrival and investigation, 27-year-old Keontre Peebles of Woodland was arrested and charged with assault on a female and simple affray. He received a written promise to appear in court on Aug. 20.

On Aug. 20, Deputy D. Williams served an outstanding warrant on 45-year-old Glen Person of Pendleton for felony possession of cocaine and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He received a $3,000 secured bond and a court date.

On Aug. 21, Deputy J. Johnson, Deputy K. Cogdill, Sgt. A. Johnson, and Sgt. R. Giglio responded to a disturbance for a naked individual causing a disturbance within the public. Upon arrival and investigation, officers arrested and charged 37-year-old Kelvin Turner of Garysburg with indecent exposure, resisting a public officer, and second-degree trespass. He received no bond and a court date scheduled for 9/17/2024.

On Aug. 23, Deputy J. Johnson and Deputy K. Cogdill responded to a disturbance for a possible naked subject in the roadway. Upon arrival and investigation, officers arrested 34-year-old Alyssa Hedspeth of Garysburg for outstanding probation violation warrant out of Northampton Co. and an outstanding extradition warrant for State of Virginia for probation violation. She received a $2,500 secured bond on the Northampton Co. warrant and no bond for extradition warrant.

On Aug. 28, Sgt. R. Battle served an outstanding warrant out of Halifax Co. on 35-year-old Hakeem Cotton of Weldon for discharging firearm into an occupied dwelling. He received no bond with a pending court date of 9/26/2024.

On Aug. 28, Deputy D. Williams and Sgt. R. Battle responded to a disturbance in the Pleasant Hill area. Upon arrival and investigation, officers arrested 54-year-old Troy Jones of Pleasant Hill for four outstanding warrants to include assault by pointing a gun, two counts communicating threats, assault and battery. He received a $2,500 total secured bond for all warrants and a court date scheduled for 9/17/2024.

On Aug. 29, Deputy Z. McDuffie and Sgt. G. Williams assisted NC Highway Patrol in a vehicle chase in the Rich Square area. Upon the vehicle stop, Deputy Z. McDuffie arrested 18-year-old Tanygi Caine of Raleigh and charged him with possession of a stolen firearm. He received an $8,000 secured bond and a court date scheduled for 10/15/2024. 26-year-old Hylek Williams of Virginia Beach, VA was also arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of a Schedule II substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He received a $15,000 secured bond and a court date scheduled for 10/15/2024.
