BRISTOL, TN. – Jacob King of Chowan University fired a low round of 64 here Tuesday to claim medalist honors at the King University Invitational.

His low round on the second day of the tournament established a new record for Chowan’s golf team, besting a mark formerly held by Cliff Forbes (2012) and Jordan Francis (2017) by four strokes.

For his efforts, King, a freshman from Clayton, NC, was honored as the Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week.

At the King University Invitational, Chowan showcased a strong performance, finishing tied for 5^th place with a two round score of 567 (+7). The tournament saw King University and Tusculum University dominate, both ending at 551 (-9).

Leading the way for Chowan was King, who fired an impressive 71-64 to finish tied for first overall with a total score of 135 (-5).

Matthew Herberger also made a significant impact for Chowan, finishing tied for fifth with a score of 137 (-3). Herberger shot a stellar 65 in his opening round, setting the tone for a strong tournament.

Mika Buchholtz shot a score of 148 (78, 70), followed by Adam Lankford at 149 (74, 75), and Bjoern Holt at 155 (82, 73).

Chowan University will hit the links again on Monday, Sept. 30 at the Bluefield State University Invitational, taking place at the Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, West Virginia.
