WINTON – Ernest Clyde “Buck” Perry, Jr., 86, of 103 River Road, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, in his home.

Mr. Perry was born in Currituck County on April 7, 1938, and was the son of the late Ernest Clyde Perry, Sr. and Elizabeth Melson Perry Marslender. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James McDonald Marslender, and by a sister, Mary Carr (husband, June, deceased).

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he retired as a Sanitary Health Director in Burlington following 25 years of employment. He was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Ahoskie and was a master woodcrafter having been gifted in various types of woodworking. A veteran, he proudly served in the Air Force.

Surviving is his sister, Joyce Futrell (husband, Joe) of Winton; a brother, James M. Marslender, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 3 p.m. in Winton Baptist Church Cemetery, and will be conducted by his brother-in-law, The Rev. Joe Futrell. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service on Thursday and other times at Joyce and Joe’s home, 411 E. Pine Street, Winton.
