Chowan women’s soccer dominates Virginia State

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan women’s soccer team secured an 8-1 victory over Virginia State here Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks had six different players find the back of the net in the match.

This commanding win elevates the Hawks to 2-5-1 overall while the Trojans fall to 0-5-2 overall.

The scoring opened early with Mya Turner netting her first collegiate goal in the 20th minute, assisted by Abigail Simon. Just a few minutes later, Simon found the back of the net herself in the 23rd minute, putting Chowan up 2-0.

Natasha Bailey continued the scoring with her first goal at the 25th minute, also assisted by Simon, extending the lead to 3-0.

The Hawks didn’t let up, as Laura Hulme scored at the 29th minute with an assist from Bailey. Regan Jackson found the net in the 45th minute, with Bailey providing the assist, making it 6-0.

The second half saw Bailey score her second goal at the 49th minute, with Turner assisting. Simon completed her standout performance with a goal at minute 51, assisted by Hulme.

The final goal came from Kali Booker at the 82nd minute, with an assist from Takiyah Raynor, also marking Booker’s first collegiate goal.

Throughout the match, the Hawks outshot the Trojans 27-14 and recorded a total of 7 saves.
