Entries solicited for annual Ahoskie Christmas Parade

AHOSKIE – Registration has opened for entries into the 2024 Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.

The parade is set for a 10 a.m. start on Saturday, Dec. 14. The parade begins on west Main Street, adjacent to the Ahoskie Kiwanis Club building, and then travels east on Main Street to Catherine Creek Road, to Sunset Street.

There is no entry fee.

All parade participants must complete the application form and submit it no later than Dec. 11.

Parade entries will be judged for recognition based on the following criteria:

How well the float represents the theme of the parade. Difficulty of construction. Overall creativity and decorations.

The following rules apply for this year’s parade:

No motorcycles, ATVs, go carts, or other similar vehicles.

Car Clubs are limited to five cars per club.

Antique cars must be 50+ years old or Classic 40 to 50 years old or restored.

Other than the official Santa and Mrs. Claus riding at the end of the parade, no other entry can feature Santa or Mrs. Clause.

No throwing candy or other objects from the parade. You may have someone to walk along beside the float/entry and hand out candy.

Only Christmas music may be played by bands or entries.

All vehicles must be driven by licensed drivers, ages 18 or older, with valid liability insurance.

Company name or logo must be on each float.

All floats must depict a Christmas theme.

No vulgar or inappropriate actions or words or inappropriate music is allowed.

There must be at least one adult on each float.

All young children must be seated on the parade entry.

No political candidates will be allowed in the parade to promote themselves, only the current town council and current elected officials.
