Roanoke-Chowan Foundation awards $820,829

AHOSKIE – The Roanoke-Chowan Foundation has awarded $820,829 in grant funds this year through its Grants Program to eligible organizations serving the health, wellness, and general well-being of persons primarily living in the Roanoke-Chowan region, which consists of counties of Bertie, Gates, Hertford, and Northampton.

Most recently, the Foundation presented checks to three organizations after its Board of Directors meeting on Sept. 19. Checks were presented to ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital for its Cancer Care Navigator Program, Pediatric Asthma Program, and Rehabilitation Relocation Project, which totaled $368,324.62 in grant funds. In addition, Roanoke-Chowan Community Health Center received $71,890 for the RCCHC Hertford Health Maintenance Alliance (HHMA) TRIP Transportation grant. The Hertford County Office of Aging Senior Meal Program received $75,000.

Funds were previously awarded to other organizations during Foundation Board meetings held in January, April, and July. Funding included: Albemarle Regional Health Services Car Seat Safety Program ($4,351,83), ECU Health Dental Clinic Ahoskie Expansion of Services ($39,000), Gates County Housing Committee Healthy Homes Program ($50,000), Hertford County Office of Aging Senior Transportation Program ($25,000), Roanoke-Chowan Community Health Center ED Care Management Program ($45,030), Roanoke Economic Development Digital Navigator Program ($100,000), and Town of Ahoskie AEDs Program ($42,232.55).

The organizations all provide programs and offer services that align with Roanoke-Chowan Foundation’s mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.
