For those who didn’t cast their ballot early, the last chance to vote in this year’s general election is Election Day on November 5.

Traditional polling precincts across the Roanoke-Chowan area will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. that day.

As in previous elections and primaries, photo ID is required for all voters. Most voters will simply show their driver’s license.

But there are other photo IDs which are also acceptable, including a “non-operator ID” from the NCDMV, a US passport, a photo ID card issued by a county board of elections, a college or university student ID approved by the State Board of Elections, state or local government ID approved by the State Board, military or veterans ID card, or tribal enrollment card.

If a voter is unable to show photo ID when voting, they may fill out an ID Exception Form.

More information about voter ID requirements is available at ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id

On Election Day, voters will go to their regular precinct to vote. The only exception is for voters in the Ahoskie 1 Precinct, who normally vote at 200 North Talmage Avenue (the old Ahoskie Elementary School). For the 2024 General Election, those voters will cast their vote at the Hertford County High School gym, located at 1500 West First Street, Ahoskie.
