Cold case attracts new attention

JACKSON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is soliciting the public’s assistance in helping to solve a cold case.

Harvey Davis was murdered on Christmas Eve, 2015.

On Dec. 24, 2015, 85-year-old Harvey Davis was located inside his residence within the town limits of Severn where he was found deceased from apparent wounds from a brutal assault.

It is believed the person or persons responsible for this murder used some type of weapon to assault Davis.

Despite an intensive homicide investigation, no evidence was developed to bring those responsible for the death of Davis to justice.

“We are asking for the public’s help to bring closure to his family and the town of Severn,” the Northampton Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

There is a $5,000 reward posted by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this homicide case.
