AHOSKIE, NC – Evelyn Sweatley Harrell passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Friday, December 6, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on May 15, 1926, in Aulander, Bertie County, North Carolina, she will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind in her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew her.
Evelyn was a woman whose heart was dedicated to her family. Her life was a testament to the love and care she showed to those around her. As a homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing environment that became the foundation of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille Hall Sweatley and Frank Sweatley; her beloved husband, Murvin Harrell; and her brother, Fred Sweatley.
Evelyn’s legacy continues through her surviving family: her children, Rachel Warren and husband Ben of Murfreesboro, Sheryl Harrell of Colerain, Alan Harrell and wife Frances of Aulander, Anne Long and husband Mike of Eure, Sue Hewitt of Ahoskie, and Kenny Harrell and wife Michelle of Millennium; her grandchildren, Kristy Warren, Brandon Harrell and wife Danielle, Regina Chesson and husband Brad, Kelly Branham, Stephanie Wagaman, Scott Gay, Amy Smith and husband Jason, Brian Hewitt, Kaley Hewitt, Jennifer Richmond and husband Joey, Jessica Lassiter and husband Bruce; 22 great-grandchildren, Brody, Alex, Brooke, Savannah, Alexis, Cheyanne, Issac, Taylor, Derrick, Marvin, Jackson, Henry, Jack, Arthur, Eilidh, Ella, Emory, Sophie, Olivia, McKenzie, Cole, and Caroline; and two great-great-grandchildren, Saylor, and Lily.
Evelyn’s life was celebrated at a graveside service on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Ahoskie Cemetery in Ahoskie, North Carolina with Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Rick Lowery officiating. Her family and friends gathered to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives.
