GASTON – A Gaston man was the victim of a fatal hit and run on Dec. 13, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Sergeant L. Bynum said the patrol received a report around 3:15 p.m. that a man later identified as Terrence Wayne Blount, 59, was found in a ditch on Highway 46 near Jasper Jones Road.
While the matter was reported Friday afternoon, Bynum said it’s not immediately clear when the collision actually happened.
Investigation by Trooper L.M. Merritt shows at this point the vehicle was most likely traveling east on Highway 46. It’s not clear what direction Blount was walking in but the investigating trooper confirmed he was struck and his body came to rest in a ditch.
There was vehicle debris in the area of the crash but Bynum said it’s not been determined whether it was related to this crash.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the highway patrol at 252-200-3490 or Northampton County Crime Stoppers at 252-645-9026.
