MURFREESBORO, NC – Robert E. Rhoades (Dusty), age 87, retired from DePaul Medical Center Engineering Department and also retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years. He served in Korea and Vietnam.

He went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2024 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.

He was born on October 10, 1937 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Russel L. Rhoades and Rose Helen Heltzel Rhoades of Crosskeys, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna K. Rhoades; and his two stepsons, Charles L. Warren and his wife Chandrea of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and Lonnie D. Warren, Jr. and wife Sandy of Cofield, North Carolina. He had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a lifetime member of the Fleet Reserve Association Unit 40 South Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia.

He was a musician and was best known as an expert harmonica player in Murfreesboro. His love of music was Gospel, Country, and Blues.

We would like to especially thank his two Navy buddies, Bill and Jim, that helped him through this last year.

Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home will be handling the private services for the family.
