At home on Tuesday, Hertford County’s varsity boys won their third game in a row, edging past Pasquotank County, 65-63. Individual stats were unavailable, but the Bears did improve to 5-8 overall and 4-3 in the Northeastern Coastal Conference.

Hertford County’s Lady Bears dropped a 46-45 heartbreaking loss at home on Tuesday against Pasquotank County. No individual stats were available as HCHS fell to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in the Northeastern Coastal Conference.

Bertie’s varsity boys defeated Perquimans County, 80-49, at home on Monday where Zymiere Dempsey led the way with 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. Tayvien Ward added 14 points for the Falcons.

One night later, Bertie raced out to a 41-17 halftime lead on their home court, but fell 70-64 in overtime against Martin County. No individual stats were listed for Bertie.

The split left the Falcons with a 6-8 overall record and 3-3 in the Four Rivers Conference.

On Monday, Bertie’s varsity girls lost 62-8 vs. Perquimans and were defeated 43-18 by Martin County on Tuesday. Bertie girls are now 3-11 overall and 1-4 in Four Rivers Conference play.

Gates County’s varsity girls continue to roll, defeating Tarboro, 80-16, on the road on Tuesday and returning home to rout North East Carolina Prep, 69-8, on Wednesday.

The Lady Barons placed four players in double figures in their win at Tarboro: London Barber (21), Semayia Cross (18), Zoey Nowell (11), and Zariah Rogers (10).

In the game against North East Carolina Prep, the Lady Barons were led by Kamryn Riddick’s 17 points. Barber (12) and Nowell (11) also scored in double figures. Zebriya Woodley chipped in 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 steals.

With the two wins, the Lady Barons improved to 17-0 overall and continue to lead the Four River Conference standings with a 7-0 record.

There were no final scores posted for the Gates County boys in either game.
