Frances Jones Herring

GOLDSBORO – Frances Jones Herring, 93, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Frances was born in Southampton County, Virginia on February 22, 1918 to the late Wilbur Fisk Jones and Mary Evans Jones and was reared in Hertford County, North Carolina. Mrs. Herring attended Chowan College as well as East Carolina University.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Mrs. Herring was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed with Farmers Home Administration as Home Agent. Frances was a long time resident of the Saulston Community, Wayne County.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 at Seymour Funeral Home.
Frances is survived by her son, George Robert Herring and wife, Patty, of Snow Hill; her daughter, Nancy Stallings and husband, Robert, of Cary; her four grandchildren, George Byron Herring and, wife, Kristen of Newport News, Virginia, Robert Craig Herring of Snow Hill, Robert Benjamin Stallings and wife, Danielle, of Charlotte, NC and Seth Harman Stallings and wife, Amy, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and her four great grandchildren, Ava Frances Stallings, Holden Thomas Stallings, Luke Harman Stallings and Reed William Stallings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Harmon Herring; her brother, Edward Wilbur (Jack) Jones; and her sister, Mary Louise White.
