John Henry Martin

GREENVILLE – John Henry Martin, age 52, of the 100 block of South Woodlawn Ave., Greenville, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Martin was born in Ahoskie, NC, a son of Barbara Powell Martin and the late Robert Milas Martin.  He was the grandson of the late Dr. John Henry and Laura B. Martin and the late Fronie and Mary T. Powell.  John was a graduate of Ahoskie High School and Chowan College, and attended East Carolina University.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie and was an engineering technician for Terracon, working for the company for 28 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Barbara P. Martin of Ahoskie; his brothers, Robert M. Martin Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Ahoskie and B. Lee Martin and wife, Susan, of Snow Hill, NC; and nephews, John Britt Martin and Robert A. Tyndall.  He is also survived by aunts, Marie P. Taylor, Lila P. Davenport and Georgia P. Martin; and an uncle, Dr. J. B. Brown.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie with the Rev. Anita Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10.  Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, P.O.
