Bethel takes fifth

AHOSKIE – Bethel Christian Academy’s varsity girls claimed fifth place in the Lt. Nick Brantley Scholarship Tournament Thursday.
The Lady Eagles topped Ahoskie Christian School 28-13 in the fifth-place game to earn that spot.
Bethel was paced by Elizabeth Farmer, who had 10 points for the evening, while Megan Simons added six and Landis Marsh contributed five.
The opening quarter was all Bethel as Farmer and Marsh scored twice each to pace a 10-0 first period.
The Lady Eagles continued through the second quarter, scoring the first five points to make it 15-0 before Dyani Hall broke the scoring drought for the Lady Warriors.
Farmer scored again to close the quarter with Bethel leading 17-2.
The Lady Eagles continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring Ahoskie 5-4 to lead 22-6 after three periods. They went on to a 28-13 win.
